Synopsis:

As a Senior Inspector of the Narcotics Bureau Operation Unit,  Heung Wing (Miu Kiu Wai) profoundly abhors evil. He and  Wai Sai-Lok  (Raymond Lam) - Senior Inspector of the Intelligence Unit have closely co-operated with each other as peer mentors, frequently solving drug trafficking cases for the Police Force. During an operation to knock down the targets,  Sai-Lok discovers clues that Heung Wing is most likely the corrupt cop in a collusion conspiracy with drug dealers. Apart from launching a secret investigation into Heung Wing,  Sai-Lok is also alienated from him by the evil-willed Chief Inspector of the Operation Unit - Pun Hok-Lai (Ben Wong). Having undergone various disputes against each other, the long-term brotherly relationship between SAI-LOK and HEUNG WING appears full of contradictions. On the other hand, following an investigation,  Sai-Lok falls in love with a snitch –  Chan Ka-Pik (Kate Tsui), who suffers from low self-esteem due to her humble beginning. Deliberately denying her affection to Sai-Lok ,  Ka-Pik gives up on him so that his secret admirer -  Ko Hei-Suen (Ella Koon), a rookie police officer, can have the chance, leading to a subtle relationship among the three. Feeling life is so dreary, KA-PIK ultimately digs her own grave by becoming a new generation of drug dealer, involved in drug trafficking and provoking the Police Force. With intense sorrow, Sai-Lok  then joins forces with  Heung Wing against  Ka-Pik , waging a chain of bitter battles.

Nokia Lumia 900 running WP 7.8 spotted in Nokia store in China

LiveSide.net reports that a Nokia Lumia 900 running preusmably an official version of Windows Phone 7.8 was spotted at the “Lumia Experience Store” at Raffles City, Shanghai.

Pictures of the handset was posted on Sina Weibo and according to the Sina Weibo user Kevin Liu, besides the new start screen not much else new was spotted.

We have heard via Nokia Italy that besides the start screen also Xbox Smartglass and the Rooms feature will be available, and we will have to wait for a more detailed hands-on to see if those are indeed in place.

Super typhoon Sandy into the eastern United States: 60 million people could be affected

After sweeping many Caribbean countries, on October 28th, tropical storm Sandy has strengthened into a super typhoon, landed in the eastern United States. According to the National Weather Center USA, Sandy storm with winds of 120 km/h is strong and likely to become the most powerful storm to attack the United States in the past 100 years.

Currently the federal government along the U.S. East Coast, including Virginia, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania declared a state of emergency in the context Sandy coming storm landfall is expected to cause heavy winds, floods and even makes snowfall in nearly all areas of the U.S. East Coast in the coming weeks.

In New York City alone, the authorities are considering the closure of the bus service, subway, bridges, tunnels ... prevent storm scan. Summer: This Firefox add-on gives you background information on key people mentioned on news sites

Back in September, we brought you a really neat browser extension called Summer, which highlights and presents additional information around key people as you read the news.

Supporting more than sixty sites, including The Next Web, Summer lets you avoid having to search for noteworthy people by showing you biography snapshots down the side of the page. Until recently, however, Summer was Chrome-only, but now it has landed on Firefox too.

Summer is a really simple add-on that does exactly what it proclaims to do. And now its core features have been replicated for Mozilla’s browser, it should see a much bigger uptake too.

To see a full list of compatible sites, you can click here and scroll to the bottom, but it includes everything from the BBC and Time, to Reuters and the Guardian.

With the add-on installed (no restart needed to activate it), you’ll see a little pop-out menu at the side, with a list of key people it has detected in the piece.

As you can see in this instance, when you click through on a name you’re first presented with an overview of who they are gleaned from Wikipedia.

And as you scroll down, you can also watch related YouTube videos and read tweets direct from their Twitter account, as well as other online data conduits.

As we noted in our previous coverage of Summer, it would be nice if the oddly-named app could also detect company names, but perhaps this would work best as a separate standalone add-on (called Spring?).

For now, however, Summer is a really useful extension that brings more meaning and context to news pieces, for easy access to background information around key individuals.

Cooked Windows Phone 7.8 ROM for the Samsung Focus now available

While Windows Phone 7.8 has still not been officially released, enough of the OS has leaked out for ROMs for many Windows Phone 7.5 handsets to be cooked.

The latest to benefit from this effort is the Samsung Focus, who on installing the ROM are now able to take advantage of the new start screen and accent colours.
